Ben Carey
UKBoxingpress.co.uk is the brain child of Ben Carey. Originating from the Steel City of Sheffield, Ben has been covering boxing from both sides of the fence since 2002. His initial break came as a reporter on Secondsout.com before he switched to work for Eugene Maloney’s now defunct boxingicons.net. Ben’s whistle stop tour of the world wide web has also seen him appear on britishboxing.net, boxingtalk.com, eastsideboxing.com, fightnews.com and doghouseboxing.com. His work has also been published in the Sheffield Star and magazines Uppercut (RIP) and Boxing Monthly.

The Yorkshire terrier has been involved at the sharp end working as a press officer for Dennis Hobson’s Fight Academy and David Coldwell’s Koncrete Promotions. However, his yearning to return to objective reporting saw him launch the UKBoxingpress site in October 2006. Ben now lives in Cheshire with his long-term partner Ann-Marie (who he’d be lost without!) and their three children, Charlotte 10, James 7 and William 7 months.

Oliver Fennell
Oliver Fennell has been following boxing since 1990 and has written about it since 1998, when he set up the World Heavyweight Boxing website, which closed in 2005. He has also been published by Boxing News and a range of newspapers and websites, and worked as Programme Editor for A-Force Promotions from 2002-2004. Oliver is originally from North Wales and is currently based in London.

Martin Williams
My name is Martin Williams, a 29 year-old dad to Mollie, and news editor of the North Wales Weekly News. Started off as a reporter on the Visitor (Rhyl) and progressed from there, covering many interesting sport and news stories and spending time in Bosnia (as a journalist) with the United Nations in 2001.

I boxed myself as an amateur 10 years ago – especially at University in Huddersfield – but am starting to creak a little now! My greatest moment was meeting fellow UKBP reporter Oliver Fennell! Oli and I worked together at Be-Wise in Rhyl, in 1995. We’ve been inseparable ever since! Been a huge boxing fan since watching Lloyd Honeyghan as a youngster, though my late grandad would be showing me Ali videos and books from the age of 4/5.

My favourite boxer of all time is Aaron Pryor. My likes? Well, I like beer. Dislikes? Black wine gums and people who don’t indicate….
